1) Can write the counterpoint part over/under a given cantus firmus.
2) Analyze the background counterpoint organization in a given work.
3) Can demonstrate similar approaches in a 4-part motet he/she compose.

COURSE DEFINITIONLearns Grand melanges (great mix) varieties in four-voice counterpoint. Can use florid counterpoint in five and six voice counterpoints. Learns how to use counterpoint in double choir.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week The scope of the course. 5. Kind (embroidered) work in four-voice counterpoint in different customs.
2nd Week Great mix (Grand Melange) using c.f. on bass in four-voice counterpoint.
3rd Week Great mix (Grand Melange) in which bass syncopated periods are used in four-voice counterpoint.
4th Week Great mix (Grand Melange) in which the bass dichotomous periods are used in four-voice counterpoint.
5th Week Great mix (Grand Melange) in which four-voice counterpoints are used with stanzas on bass
6th Week A 6/4 measure melanges practice in four-voice counterpoint.
7th Week A 3/2 measure melanges practice in four-voice counterpoint.
8th Week Midterm.
9th Week Embroidered work with two soprano parts in five-voice counterpoint.
10th Week Embroidered work with two tenor parts in five-voice counterpoint.
11th Week Embroidered work with two soprano and two alto parts in six-voice counterpoint.
12th Week Embroidered work with two soprano and two bass parts in six-voice counterpoint.
13th Week Analysis of seven and eight-voice embroidered counterpoint samples.
14th Week Examination of embroidered samples in double choir.
