At the end of this course, the students; 1) understand the basics and importance of a particular type of political violence. 2) learn the definition, history, motivations and types of terrorism and the counter-terrorism efforts. 3) understand, describe and critically evaluate the fundamental causes of terrorism.

COURSE DEFINITION
The focus of the course is on academic approaches to understanding terrorism as a method. Some of the topics that will be covered include the definition of terrorism, its history, targets and types of terrorism, as well as counter-terrorism methods. The regional plan of the course allows for an assessment of terrorist trends in different parts of the world.
