At the end of this course, the students; 1) Learn the major concepts and methods of social-cultural anthropology. 2) Discuss the manifestations of the following cultural institutions, systems, organizations and categories in different geographical locations: family, marriage, kinship, administration (politics), ways of subsistence (economy), religion, art, technology, language and communication, sex, gender and sexuality. 3) Understands the thoughts and behaviors of different human societies, taking into account their cultural structures and strategies of adaptation to the natural environment. 4) Learns the elements of culture that shape society. Gains knowledge and intellectual background about the relationship between cultural platforms such as theater, cinema, communication, media, history, etc. and society. 5) Comprehend the building blocks of Turkey's social and cultural history and interpret them comparatively.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course aims to provide students with a knowledge of the historical and evolutionary development of societies. In addition, students are provided with a detailed knowledge on the social effects of cultural elements that make up societies, cultural developments, the changing appearance of human communities with these cultural developments, and the sources of intergenerational transmission of culture. Social and cultural building blocks that lead social change and transformation constitute the content of this course. The ultimate aim of the course is to make a comparative evaluation of the relationship between society and culture.
