At the end of this course, the students; 1) Understand the forms of organization of firms and industries, their interactions and the reasons for and results of governmental intervention in the framework of both the Structure-Conduct-Performance paradigm and the new industrial organization theories such as game theory, competitiveness and information theory. 2) Have a good understanding of industrial structure, behaviour and performance, trends in industries, behaviour of firms in oligopolistic, monopolistic markets and network industries, and of antitrust and public industrial policy.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course mainly focuses on firm behavior in imperfectly competitive markets, which appear to be much more valid for the real world industries than the perfect competition. In this course the acquisition and use of market power by dominant firms, strategic interactions among undertakings, and the role of antitrust policy are analyzed.
