LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Grasp that agriculture is the dynamo of economic development, but lost its relative importance over time.
2) Grasp why the agricultural sector needs government intervention
3) Grasp food security and agricultural policies
4) Grasp that Turkey's agricultural policies jeopardize the food security of the country in recent years,
5) Learn the processes under which US and EU agricultural policies go through and control today's world food markets.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course is an introduction to the economics of agriculture and food markets and examines the application of basic micro and macroeconomic theories to agriculture, agricultural development, the role of agriculture in the Turkish economy, public agricultural policies, agricultural trade policies and regulations.
