1) Understand what labor supply and demand imply and how labor markets work.
2) Understand the analytical and intuitive mechanisms behind labor market equilibrium.
3) Analyze the effects of policy interventions on labor market.
4) Learn how to implement analytical economic thinking to interpret real life facts, situations and issues in the labor market e.g. unemployment, unions, migration

COURSE DEFINITIONThe course will introduce labor economics from a theoretical and empirical perspective. The course will cover a broad range of topics such as the theory of labor supply and demand, labor market equilibrium, unemployment, non-competitive labor markets (monopolies and discrimination), unions and income inequality. We will also accommodate applications of economic theory to several policy issues with discussions over real life examples.
