COURSE DEFINITION
Economic activities have long been subjected to the 'public' and 'private' sector distinctions. This distinction is an undeniable indicator that the public sector is an integral part of the economy, although the market economy has become widespread in recent years. Intensive state intervention in the economy after the 2008 global economic crisis is another concrete fact of the public economy and finance. Within the framework of public finance course, students; The reasons for the existence of the public sector in economic life, the place and importance of the public sector in the economy, the financial instruments and application methods used by the public sector, political tendencies and expectations in public finance, and finally, the theories and concepts in the field of public finance will be explained. Current issues related to the practices in Turkey will also be included in the course agenda and opened to discussion. In this course, previously acquired knowledge of microeconomics and especially macroeconomics will be used.
