At the end of this course, the students; 1) Understand the characteristics of biography genre. 2) Learn about the tradition of Turkish biography. 3) Learn the historical development of modern Turkish biography 4) Recognize biography writers from Tanzimat Era to Republic. 5) Analyse selected encyclopedic biography texts.

COURSE DEFINITION
In this course, the historical line of Turkish biography will be critically discussed, prominent biography representatives will be emphasized and sample biography texts will be evaluated. The birth and development of the modern biography genre in Turkish literature will be discussed with historical and theoretical approaches, and the development of the biography genre specific to Turkish literature will be highlighted in the focus of political and social developments.
