At the end of this course, the students; 1) Define terms and concepts related to dialectology. 2) Explain the problems encountered in dialect studies. 3) Compare the dialect classifications of Turkish. 4) Apply methods and techniques of field work. 5) Analyze the morphological features of the words in the dialect texts.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course deals with the general problems of the Turkish dialectology, such as dialects, standard language, social variants and differences between them, speaker of dialect, problems of collecting dialect materials, transcribing collected materials and linguistic analysis of the dialect text.
