At the end of this course, the students; 1) Learn the Ottoman Turkish alphabet. 2) Read the printed texts. 3) Distinguish the words of Turkish, Arabic, and Persian origin. 4) Explain the language features of Ottoman Turkish texts.

COURSE DEFINITION
In this course, which forms a prerequisite for the other course in which the Ottoman Turkish materials are used, aims to make students acquire the ability to write Arabic and Persian words with Arabic letters with full observance of the peculiar spelling rules, and to read the texts in printed form or script. The course will also cover the specific features of writing that characterize the words of Turkish, Arabic and Persian origin, along with some fundamental grammar rules associated with these languages.
