LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) Explain the basic concepts of phonetics and phonology. 2) Define the phonemes of Turkish. 3) Show the phonetic features of Turkish in a given text or a specific discourse. 4) Explain phonological phenomena and their causes.

COURSE DEFINITION | In this course the phonology of Turkish will be examined. After analyzing sounds, phonemes, phoneme and letter distinctions, and various features of vowels and consonants; the phonetic changes of Turkish will be examined a detailed. In this course tone, intonation, stress, and syllable structure in Turkish will also be analyzed. Practices will be done about the subjects to be studied. The aim of this course is to make the students to comprehend phonologic features and sound changes of Turkish. |
