LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Explain the basic concepts of phonetics and phonology.
2) Define the phonemes of Turkish.
3) Show the phonetic features of Turkish in a given text or a specific discourse.
4) Explain phonological phenomena and their causes.

COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course the phonology of Turkish will be examined. After analyzing sounds, phonemes, phoneme and letter distinctions, and various features of vowels and consonants; the phonetic changes of Turkish will be examined a detailed. In this course tone, intonation, stress, and syllable structure in Turkish will also be analyzed. Practices will be done about the subjects to be studied. The aim of this course is to make the students to comprehend phonologic features and sound changes of Turkish.

2nd Week Speech sound, classification of the sounds, articulation of the sounds
3rd Week Explanation the concepts of "sound, letter and alphabet"
4th Week Phonemes and allophones
5th Week Vowel phonemes of Turkish and their features
6th Week Consonant phonemes of Turkish and their features
7th Week Connecting vowels, euphonic consonant
8th Week Midterm
9th Week Phonetic features of Turkish
10th Week Phonetic features of Turkish
11th Week Phonetic events and practice
12th Week Phonetic events and practices
13th Week Suprasegmentals.
