2) will be able to discuss a literary text in the light of psychoanalytic literary theory.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course aims to provide an introduction to the theories of psychoanalysis and their application to literary texts. It explores the impact of Freud?s ideas on twentieth-century literature and looks at how the concepts such as the unconscious, the Oedipus complex, repression, and narcissism can be used to interpret various works of literature. At the end of the course, students will be familiar with the central concepts of psychoanalysis and learn to reflect more critically on what they read.
