LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) understand the basics and importance of a particular type of political violence.
2) learn the definition, history, motivations and types of terrorism and the counter-terrorism efforts.
3) understand, describe and critically evaluate the fundamental causes of terrorism.

COURSE DEFINITIONOur focus will be on academic approaches to understanding terrorism as a method. Some of the more specific issues we will deal with include the definition, history, motivations, and types of terrorism, as well as counter-terrorism efforts. The regional framework allows comparing various terrorist trends in different parts of the world.
