LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) understand and assess the issues with regard to the protection and promotion of national interest in international relations as well as its methods. 2) comprehend the global communications and interactions with their theoretical, institutional, political and juridical dimensions and implementations as a whole. 3) gain expertise on Public Diplomacy as a new discipline with its tools, methods and institutions. Assess how these tools and methods are utilized in the practice of foreign policy making through the examples of best practices. 4) evaluate the institutions of public diplomacy process as well as their roles and places in the foreign policy processes through analyzing specific examples. 5) learn how current diplomatic methods can be used as Public Diplomacy tools. 6) discuss the Public Diplomacy issues and prospects in Turkey as well as the question of what should be done in this respect.

COURSE DEFINITION | Public Diplomacy has been emerged to support traditional diplomacy during the inter-state relations today. In addition to that, it tries to affect public opinion of the target communities as a foreign policy technique in favor of the national interests. It aims teaching to the students of Political Science and International Relations of the international system together with all of the actors. |
