1) have knowledge about the political systems of various different countries.
2) further develop the capacity for carrying out comparative analysis in political science.
3) draw links between historical processes and the current political systems.

COURSE DEFINITIONThroughout the course, various countries and their political, economic, and social structures will be analyzed. The countries are selected on the basis of their different political systems, levels of democracy and their roles and positions within the state system. The historical backgrounds, state institutions, political economy, and political culture will be under scrutiny. At the end of the course the students will be endowed with knowledge about different countries and the political processes in those countries. Besides, they will be capable of tracing the changes, developments and their repercussions at the global level.
