LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Use some foreceasting techniques such as time series and associative techniques.
2) Develop an understanding of the production/inventory management and control functions together with the mathematical models and methodologies used for planning purposes.
3) Get knowledgeable about the recent topics such as E-Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Materials Requirements Planning, Enterprise Resources Planning, Just-In-Time and Lean Operations.
4) Use statistical quality control techniques.
5) Recognize the importance of operational decisions that are about running the operations of the production systems and analyze the underlying reasons of the problems that place a burden on superior performance of business enterprises.

COURSE DEFINITIONProduction planning and control production encompasses scheduling and programming studies in order to determine the products to be manufactured, to analyze the production infrastructure and to ensure that the products will be produced in the desired quality, cost, time and quantity.
