LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT	At the end of this course, the students; 1) will have a knowledge on, how the emergence of social work and learn how to develop 2) will understand social work as an applied science and comprehend the basic philosophy of social work as a profession 3) will learn about current issues in the field of social work.

COURSE DEFINITION	In this course fundamental issues are studied like: the emergence and development of social work as a profession and applied science; philosophy of social work; the value, knowledge and skill bases of the profession; practice settings; the role and tasks of the social worker as a helping professional.
