General Information

Başkent University Department of Ear Nose Throat (ENT) was established in 25 July 1994 at Ankara hospital. The clinic rapidly thrived and provided most advanced medical service to its growing number of patients since its foundation.

The Department of ENT consists of 26 faculty members, including 4 professors, 11 associated professors, 7 assistant professors and Professor Levent N. Ozluoglu, MD as the head of the department. The audiology division, which is a part of ENT department, consists of 1 audiologist each in Konya and Adana hospitals, 4 audiology technicians in Ankara hospital, 2 audiology technicians in Adana hospital and 1 audiology technician each in Izmir and Alanya hospitals.

All ENT clinics in all our hospitals provide modern diagnostic and therapeutic methods. Routine ENT examination includes nasal endoscopy; acoustic rhinometry and rhinomanometry for diagnosing endonasal pathologies; endoscopic and microscopic otoscopy for ear diseases and videolaryngoscopy for laryngeal and voice disorders. Hearing, speaking and balance disorders are managed in our Audiology and Neurotology Laboratory with audiometry, tympanometry, ABR, electrocochleography, auto-acoustic emmission, computerized electronystagmography, videonystagmography and VEMP units. Our clinic is a leading center for treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, nationwide. Along with routine ENT operations, advanced surgeries like cochlear implantation, all kinds of neurootologic surgery, endoscopy sinus surgery, facial plastic surgery, laser surgery, radiosurgery, surgery of head and neck tumours, endolaryngeal microsurgery and voice surgery are successfully performed. Besides clinical research, a variety of experimental studies are carried out in animal laboratory of our university. Our clinic frequently participates in national and international meetings and congresses where recent progress of ENT topics are followed, and share its medical experience and practice in published literature.

Audiology, Speech and Voice Disorders master thesis program is carried out in our department within the Medical Sciences Institute.
