Specific Arrangements for the Recognition of Prior Learning
A student, who applies to a graduate program from Başkent University or another institution via lateral transfer, must satisfy the application requirements of the applied program. Requirements for the admission through lateral transfer are as follows: a) All applications are evaluated by the Administrative Boards of Institutes by taking into account the recommendations of the departments. Eligibility for the exemption of the previously completed courses of a student, whose application is accepted, is decided by taking into account the principles are laid out in Article 17 of this document. b) The student is required to have completed at least one semester of the enrolled program successfully and to have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.70 out of 4.00 or 69,66 out of 100 for the master's program; a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.20 out of 4.00 or 81,33 out of 100 for the doctorate programs. The period spent in the currently registered program is also accounted in the transferred program. c) The master's students, who transfer between the thesis and without thesis master programs, must apply at the end of the second semester and must have completed at least five courses successfully. The period spent in the currently registered program is also accounted in the transferred program. While transfer ing between the thesis and without thesis master programs, the courses that are taken in the currently registered program and are also valid in the transferred program, are indicated in the transcripts as taken in the new program rather than credit transfer. d) A student, who is accepted to a doctorate program via bachelor degree and completed at least seven courses successfully, can transfer to a graduate program with or without thesis in the same department. Adjustment of the student to a new program, who is eligible for the transfer, is performed by the recommendation of department and the decision of the Administrative Boards of Institutes. |
