At the end of this course, the students; 1) Know fundamentals of digital technology. 2) Know textual, audio, image, and video data representations. 3) Describe lossless and losy compression algorithms. 4) Describe main components of traditional and content-based retrieval systems. 5) Know data structures and techniques for similarity-based search. 6) Perform performance evaluations of information retrieval systems.
