LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Have knowledge about the historical developments and traditions of US foreign policy;
2) Have knowledge about the role of different actors in shaping US foreign policy
3) Analyze the relationship between US foreign policy and historical developments in international politics;
4) Comprehend the US policies towards different regions and have an idea about its future.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course introduces students to historical and theoretical approaches to the foreign policy of the United States (US), focusing on how US foreign policy has been shaped since its establishment. In particular, the role of the US in international politics, the effects of regional and global developments on US foreign policy making, and the reflections of US policy on global security will be examined within the scope of the course. In this framework, breaking points in different periods will be discussed and the changes in American foreign policy over time will be discussed with a focus on global security.
