At the end of this course, the students; 1) Understand the importance of intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. 2) Discuss the topic of international organizations via important theoretical perspectives such as realism, liberalism, constructivism. 3) Grasp the activities of international organizations in areas such as international security, trade, economic development, environment and human rights.

COURSE DEFINITION | In this course the institutional structures, political processes and political impacts of various international organizations will be elaborated. International organizations are the important constituents of the existing global governance system in terms of their roles in the global issues. The course covers not only the traditional issues like international security, the global distribution of the welfare and factors threatening the social welfare, but also topics like international environmental problems. The main target of this course is to inform students with the history, development, varieties and important features of international organizations, different theories and concepts related with international organizations and the functions of the organizations in the world politics. |
