COURSE DEFINITIONThis course will focus on American women writers from the Colonial period to the present. It will examine the position of the woman writer in the literary canon and the changing relationship of women to writing and literature both as writers and characters. Feminist theories will provide the theoretical framework for readings in a variety of genres.
