1) Learn the communication through bandlimited linear channels.
2) Learn optimum receiver for channels with ISI and AWGN.
3) Learn multichannel and multicarrier systems.
4) Learn spread spectrum systems.
5) Learn multiuser communications, capacity of multiple access methods.
6) Learn random access networks.

COURSE DEFINITIONSampling of bandlimited waveforms. Characteristics of speech and image signals. Quantization of discrete-time signals. PCM, DPCM, ADPCM systems. Subband coding, adaptive transform coding, source coding. Karhunen-Loeve transform (KLT), DCT, DHT, OWHT. Vector quantization, tree and trellis codes.
