COURSE DEFINITIONThe factors leading to the deterioration and degradation types of ceramic objects in the museums and archaeological excavations and the emergency protective measures, intervention strategies applied to ceramics constitute the content of this course. In this context, clay, glaze structure is determined by examining the surface of the find and measures are to be taken.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week The factors that lead to the deterioration of ceramic object and the types of deterioration.
2nd Week The causes of deterioration of glazed tiles and ceramics, degradation caused by faulty conservation techniques.
3rd Week Consodilation of the ceramic surface and strenghten physical resistance of ceramic surface.
4th Week The classification of the ceramic object in the museums and archaeological excavations and methods of evaulation.
5th Week Museum, excavation and underwater finds and the application of protective measures.
6th Week The methods of lifting and carrying ceramic objects in the archaeological excavations strenghtening and wrapping techniques.
7th Week The alternative methods of carrying and lifting objects.
8th Week Mid-term: "The idenfication and determination of deterioration on ceramic object"
9th Week The temporary installation of ceramic sherds.
10th Week Combining broken sherds by an adhesive and complete missing parts.
11th Week Consolidation methods.
12th Week The coloriation of conserved object.
13th Week 3D drawing of conserved object.
14th Week Project "The conservation of a ceramic object and digital drawing"
15th Week
