LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Distinguish between normal and abnormal behavior during childhood.
2) Monitor the historical development of the classification of childhood psychological disorders.
3) Identify the contemporary perspectives of abnormal behavior's origins in childhood.
4) Explain the clinical pictures, epidemiology and prognoses of common childhood psychopathologies.
5) Evaluate the etiologies and appropriate treatment approaches of common childhood psychopathologies.

COURSE DEFINITIONThe main aim of this course is to inform students on etiology and treatment of psychopathologies that are frequently seen in childhood period. In addition, providing information on biological, psychological and sociocultural factors that affect childhood psychopathologies is another purpose of this course. The topics that will be covered through the course as follows: developmental systemic approach, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, conduct and oppositional defiant disorder, childhood mood disorders, childhood anxiety disorders, autism, childhood schizophrenia, intellectual difficulties, learning disability, eating disorders.
