1) Informed about the basic characteristics, the historical developments and current status of the cognitive-behavioral therapies.
2) Explain the importance of the therapeutic relationship, evaluation, and formulation.
3) Identify the cognitive and behavioral techniques used in the course of the therapy.
4) Interpret how to evaluate the effectiveness of these therapies.
5) Criticize the research findings related to the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapies.

COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course the different types of cognitive-behavioral therapies will be introduced within the context of their historical development, their similarities and differences, and their explanations for different psychological disorders. The course will also include the introduction of a prototype cognitive therapy, the basic concepts like automatic thoughts, schemas, dysfunctional attitudes, cognitive distortions, etc., the different stages, and the different therapy techniques.
