At the end of this course, the students; 1) They explain life-long developmental stages by considering sociocultural variables. 2) They establish a relationship between the qualities and changes that individuals will have in adolescence, adulthood and later life. 3) Compares the theories of psychology explaining physical, cognitive, emotional and social development. 4) Interprets how the social and cultural environment can affect the developmental stage of the individual. 5) Will be able to analyze the problems and crises that can be seen in the developmental stages.

COURSE DEFINITION
The aims of this course are students will be able to explain basic concepts, research methods in developmental psychology and main development theories, to express prenatal development and its importance in development, to differentiate age appropriate physical, cognitive and socio-emotional characteristics in infancy, early childhood and middle childhood. This course covers history, basic concepts and research methods in developmental psychology, theories of developmental psychology, biological and environmental foundations of development, prenatal development and birth, physical, cognitive and socioemotional development in infancy, early and middle childhood.
