LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) Can define the concept of dispute in insurance 2) Can explain the systems created for the settlement of disputes in the insurance sector. 3) Gain dominance on some basic concepts that are subject to arbitration. 4) Explain the functioning of Insurance Arbitration courts as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism. 5) Learn the disputes arising from traffic, motor insurance, compulsory seat personal accident, agriculture and fire policies. 6) Analyze the disputes arising from the transportation branch, life and health insurances.

COURSE DEFINITION | This course is mainly focused on introducing the student to the contents of the disputes arising from an insurance contract between the policy holder or people who benefit from the insurance contract and the party that undertakes the risk. It also explains the types of disputes in each insurance branch, the current mechanism to resolve disputes and the Turkish Insurance Arbitration System as an alternative arbitration method. In this respect, this course will offer case studies with real life stories for each insurance branch so as to emphasize how insurance resolution methods work in the event of disagreement arising from insurance contracts. |
