COURSE DEFINITION	The course is an introduction to theoretical and practical components of cinema art. Technical and formal elements that constitute a film, film genres and variations, milestones of history of cinema and cinema in Turkey will be examined with film screenings, practice in course and discussions.

A general introduction to the art of cinema 2nd Week Cinema history I; Pre-cinema technology. The invention of the cinematograph / the birth of the cinema. Early years and silent cinema. Silent Gags 3rd Week Cinema history II; Soviet silent cinema and montage 4th Week Cinema history III; Transition to sound film. Classic Hollywood Cinema 5th Week Movements in cinema; expressionism, impressionism, realism, poetic realism, neorealism, new wave, free cinema, new cinema, experimental cinema, 1-2-3rd Cinema, American independent cinema 6th Week Genres in cinema 7th Week Film Production Stages, Film Crew 8th Week Midterm Exam Week 9th Week Narrative Elements in Cinema I.
