At the end of this course, the students; 1) Will learn the technical and creative steps in the production process of a video project; from the conception of the idea to its completion 2) Will create their own aesthetically complementary and consistent video projects through the practical application of the basic concepts and principles of the video production process and learning to implement feedback and criticism 3) Will be able to implement the production process successfully while tailoring their project towards their chosen audience and medium, while recording said production process thoroughly and effectively

COURSE DEFINITION
In this course students are expected to utilize the theoretical and practical knowledge gained from previous courses to create an original video project, recording the process of production from idea to post-production. They thus will design and create a product that is aesthetically complementary and suitable for the medium and target audience they have determined.

1st Week
Introduction, general information on course content.
2nd Week
Examples of short films, animation and commercials. Discussion of examples. What makes a good short?
3rd Week
Examples brought in by the students. Discussing the examples. What is a good short, what is a good story?
4th Week
Visual Storytelling, writing visually, script format. Stories written by students will be discussed. Stories will be re-written in script format.
5th Week
What are Storybeats / storyboards?
Creating a Storyboard, what to focus on: what in on screen, angles, editing, transitions. Exercise: Subtext in scenes.E xercise: drawing a Storyboard.
6th Week
7th Week
Presentation of the subjects chosen for the final project (Visual references, keywords, story, script, storybeats)Feedback on the Storyboards, focusing on visual flow and function. Workshop / Questions for your story. Music, actors, shooting locations. Creating a scene list.
8th Week
Mid-term

Feedback on final Storyboards.
10th Week
Watching of raw footage, feedback on initial Production Journal.
11th Week
