LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Can choose appropriate laboratory and imaging methods by making a detailed history and complete physical examination in the real patient
2) Diagnoses common diseases in the society in subjects related to Internal Diseases and Internal Diseases sub-branches and gives the first step treatment.
3) In the rare diseases of Internal Diseases, suspects the disease and directs the real patient appropriately.
4) Establish relationships based on trust by cooperating with physicians and healthcare professionals, especially with patients and their families.
5) Knows the importance and methods of scanning national and foreign literature.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis elective is designed to acquaint the student with the basics of diagnosis and management of a wide variety of health problems that adult patients may present with in primary care and emergency department. For this purpose, a training program including theoretical lessons, clinical practice and case discussions is implemented. Practical applications are carried out through case-based discussions (CbD), procedural skills (PS) evaluations and outpatient clinics.

1.Week 1: To be able to carry out immunization services, Determining the health problems and healthcare needs of the society, Prevention of chronic diseases, Detalied history taking about the health problem, Elderly health, Primary immune deficiencies, Allergic reaction, Infections in patients with immune deficiencies, Upper respiratory tract, Infections, Gastroenteritis, Approach to patients with fever, Urinary system infections, Lymphoproliferative diseases, Lymphadenopathy, Oncological emergencies, Complications in oncological treatments; drug side effects, Iron deficiency anemia, Megaloblastic Anemia, Bleeding diathesis, Learning how to make and evaluate peripheral smear, Weight loss, Arthritis, Constipation, Hepatomegaly.
2.Week 2: Portal hypertension, Hepatic coma, Liver cirrhosis, Chronic diarrhea, To be able to read and evaluate direct radiographs, Hepatobiliary system radiology, Nuclear Medicine in Endocrinology, Nuclear Medicine in Nephrology, Abdominal distention, Dyspepsia, Gastro-esophageal reflux, Dysphagia, Irritable bowel disease, Lower gastrointestinal bleeding, Acute hepatitis, Edema, Nephrotic syndrome, Cystic diseases of kidney, Acute glomerulonephritis, Metabolic syndrome, Cushing's disease, Goiter, Diabetes Mellitus, Antibiotic Treatment with Illustrative Cases.
