COURSE DEFINITION
This course aims to provide a general overview of the theoretical and practical aspects of the art of cinema. It aims to offer a basic understanding of the elements that constitute films within the historical evolution of cinema and to foster understanding and awareness of the technical, institutional, historical, and sociological aspects of films.

4.
Silent comedies; Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd.

Soviet Silent Cinema and Montage. Eisenstein's "Battleship Potemkin."

German Expressionism. R. Wiene's "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari," F. Lang's "Metropolis."
