LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) The purpose of this course is to furnish students with the knowledge on the historical development, legal basis and cases of the most important economic phenomia of our age, namely economic integrations by taking into consideration of developments in the EU and Turkish-EU relations, so that students assess relations accuretely and comprehensively.
2) To ensure that students understand the economic integrations seen in almost every region of the world correctly.
3) Ensuring the correct understanding and evaluation of the relations between Turkey and the EU with the European Union, which is the most advanced economic integration model in the geography where Turkey is located, by comprehensively discussing the Turkey-EU relations.

RECOMMENDED OPTIONAL PROGRAMME COMPONENTNo prerequisite. However, some basic courses, such as the International Commercial and Economic Organizations, International Trade are recommended.
COURSE DEFINITIONThis course provides general knowledge about economic integration and focuses on EU's historical development. In this context, integration theory, forms of integration, economies of countries affected by the EU's development, especially in the final stage of EU, are explained and institutions such as the Economic and Monetary Union and the European Central Bank are examined. Moreover, basic problems in the process of Turkey's full membership in EU and special topics such as public policy, customs union and convergence criteria are discussed.
