At the end of this course, the students; 1) Will be able to learn the basic concepts of software and hardware. 2) Will be able to learn basics about computers and operation systems. 3) Will be able to explain internet and its main components and will be used FTP. 4) Will be able to learn how to use a word processor, with the focus of Academic report preparation. 5) Will be able to learn how to create tables, graphics, formulas and the basics of spreadsheet applications. 6) Will be able to learn how to prepare presentations and the basics of presentation applications. 7) Will be able to understand basic terminology of information security 8) Will be able to understand basic concepts and information of digital life

COURSE DEFINITION
Students learn the devices of the computers and software parts, data storage and transfer, the importance of knowledge and data in contemporary times, the concept of data security, electronic spreadsheats, data bases and presentation programs.

Basics of the operating system, opening-closing programs, changing the basic settings of the computer and op. system

Using the Internet, e-mail, web based applications

Information systems applications specific to Başkent University, using online education tools
5th Week
Introduction to the word processing program and basic usage

Rules, tables, titles, pictures and other advanced usage of the word processing program

Preparing academic reports / documents with the use of word processors

Introduction to the spreadsheets and basic usage

Graphics, formulas and similar expert usage of the spreadsheets
