LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT	At the end of this course, the students; 1) To understand and identify the structural differences between English and Turkish 2) To recall previous knowledge on grammar and apply this knowledge to ESP content 3) To realize different uses of words in different contexts 4) To translate sentences of various structure and level of difficulty into the target language, considering important points about tone and content 5) To produce alternative translations for the words, phrases and structures given in the source language 6) To enrich their field-specific vocabulary 7) To enhance their comprehension of written material 8) To develop analytical thinking skills

COURSE DEFINITION	This is an upper-intermediate English for Specific Purposes translation course. It aims to equip students with the necessary skills in order to understand and identify the structural differences between English and Turkish, to recall previous knowledge on grammar and apply this knowledge to ESP content, to realize different uses of words in different contexts, to translate sentences of various structure and level of difficulty into the target language, considering important points about tone and content, to produce alternative translations for the words, phrases and structures given in the source language, and to enrich their field-specific vocabulary and to enhance their comprehension of written material.
COURSE CONTENTS	WEEK TOPICS 1st Week Introduction to and Comparison of English and Turkish syntax 2nd Week Analysis and translation of simple and compound English Sentences into Turkish with reference to tenses, negation 3rd Week Translation of simple and compound Turkish Sentences into English with reference to tenses, negation 4th Week Revision of adjective clauses and introduction to translation of sentences with adjective clauses 5th Week Translation of sentences with adjective clauses from English into Turkish 6th Week Translation of sentences with adjective clauses from Turkish into English. Vocabulary study 7th Week Revision of noun clauses and introduction to translation of sentences with noun clauses 8th Week MIDTERM 9th Week Translation of sentences with noun clauses from English into Turkish 10th Week Translation of sentences with adjective clauses from Turkish into English 11th Week Revision of adverbial clauses and introduction to translation of sentences with adverbial clauses 12th Week Translation of sentences with adverbial clauses into Turkish 13th Week Translation of sentences with adjective clauses into English 14th Week Vocabulary study and covering of exam related materials.
