At the end of this course, the students; 1) Have information about the historical development of Medical Documents and Medical Documentation processes, know the medical documents that are in the general use of health service providers. 2) Have information about the Total Quality Management operation and legal rules during the production, preservation, putting into service and destruction of medical documents. 3) Gain information about the common aspects of medical informatics and medical documentation processes. 4) Medical terms; will be able to analyze based on root, prefix and suffix structures, gain the ability to recognize, read and understand medical terminological words, recognize anatomical, diagnostic, surgical and symptom-related terms belonging to body systems and organs. 5) Knows the historical development processes of the classification of diseases and the World Health Organization's Disease Classification systems in the International Disease Classification Family. 6) Knows how to scan Electronic and Physical Patient Files using disease information, medical terminology and anatomy, how to check information in medical documents and how to code Disease Diagnosis and Procedures using ICD-10 CM / ICD-10-AM systems. 7) Learns the concept, system and usage purposes of Diagnosis-related group (DRG) at entry level. 8) Learns to follow the current practices in the field of health and the coding processes of diseases on the websites of institutions such as the Ministry of Health and WHO.

COURSE DEFINITION
Under the main headings of medical informatics, medical documentation processes and introduction to medical terminology;Common topics of Medical Documentation and Medical Informatics, Medical terminological analysis and readings, Historical development processes of classification of diseases, World Health Organization's Disease Classification systems in the International Disease Classification Family will be discussed. Studies will be conducted on how to read the diagnosis and treatment information in Electronic and Physical Patient Files and how to code them according to ICD-10 Clinical Coding systems.
