COURSE DEFINITION
Introduction to sociology of health, definition of health and illness, experience of the disease, health and illness behavior, the role of patient and patient-physician relationship, social factors affecting health status, gender, marital status, family, education, employment and occupation, poverty, social class, health inequality, lifestyle, social environment, health and social support, social stigma (of mental disorders, AIDS, HIV), cultural influences on illness experience, religion and biopsychosocial health, health system as a social service area subjects are discussed in this course.
