COURSE DEFINITIONHistory of material science. Classification of materials; physical properties of materials. Atomic structure. Crystal structures, phase diagrams and thermal operations. Single and multi phase crystal structures. Phase distributions. Steels, cast irons, other metallic materials and ceramics. Material decaying, aging and corrosion.
