At the end of this course, the students; 1) Acquire knowledge on symptoms and etiology of psychological trauma. 2) Acquire knowledge of different theories in the trauma literature. 3) Acquire knowledge on post-traumatic stress and related disorders. 4) Learn approaches of intervening to post-traumatic disorders.

COURSE DEFINITION | In this course students acquire the knowledge of psychological trauma, traumatic experiences and how individuals may be affected by traumatic experiences. Another important purpose of the course is to teach theories of psychological trauma. The topics that are covered through the course as follows: Theories of psychological trauma, prevalence of traumatic stress, biological bases of traumatic stress reactions, psychological risk factors, Acute Stress Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, post-traumatic growth, natural disasters and trauma. |
