LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Acquire knowledge on basic principles and methods of group psychotherapies used by different psychological perspectives.
2) Acquire knowledge of group processes and dynamics.
3) Acquire knowledge on interpersonal theory of psychopathology.
4) Acquire basic skills used in group based psychotherapies.

COURSE DEFINITIONThe aim of this course is to introduce the principles and methods of various types of psychotherapies which can be applied in the group format, through the perspective of group dynamics. The course includes discussions on the advantages and disadvantages of individual and group psychotherapies, based on the interpersonal theory of psychopathology. Topics like process and content in psychotherapy, and the changing roles of the psychotherapist are also discussed. Furthermore, the course also includes discussions on the effectiveness of these therapies.
