LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) will develop their critical thinking skills in the positive direction 2) will know how to differentiate science from pseudoscience and in the light of this knowledge be able to test the proposals presented as science 3) will develop a positive attitude towards science and scientific method 4) will be able to present one's own feelings and thoughts in the systematic procedures of critical thinking 5) will develop skills to inquire about the current issues in his/her environment and increase ones level of awareness 6) will learn and apply the methods to analyze the daily arguments on different issues and be able to decipher the contradictions in these arguments 7) will use critical thinking practices in ones daily life.

COURSE DEFINITION | In this course, the focus is on basic fields and problem areas of philosophy. The characteristics of philosophical knowledge and its special features different from other kinds of knowledge, epistemiology, ethics, philosophy of human, philosophy of art, the concept of critical thinking, critical analysis of facts and phenomenons, syntesis and the importance of critical thinking in social work is stressed in the course. |
