At the end of this course, the students; 1) Gain the ability to calculate classical and conditional probabilities by understanding basic probability concepts. 2) Calculate expected values ??and moments using discrete random variables and their distributions. 3) Calculate expected values ??and moments using continuous random variables and their distributions. 4) Learn some special statistical distributions used in insurance.

This course covers basic probability definitions; concept of probability, conditional probability, independence of two events, random variables and their distributions, discrete random variables and their distributions, continuous random variables and their distributions, the area under a curve, integration and differentiation, expectations and moments and statistical distributions useful in general insurance work.
