LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Counts the judicial rules to which she is subject while practicing the profession of medicine.
2) Counts the main technical and scientific arrangements required in the solution of forensic cases while practicing the profession of medicine.
3) Explains the relations of forensic medical facts and events with legal concepts while practicing the profession of medicine.
4) Defines forensic case analysis methodology while practicing the profession of medicine.
5) While practicing the profession of medicine, she can compile the facts and events in forensic cases and present them to the judicial authorities as a report.
6) Counts the regulations related to forensic medicine in Turkish Law while practicing the profession of medicine.
7) Explains the principles of age determination and identification in forensic events.
8) Creates registry systems and database in dentistry.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course is designed to provide students with information about forensic expertice. In this course the basic concepts related to forensic medicine and important legal concepts related to the Turkish Law in connection with basic legal principles are explained.

2nd Week Injuries related to mechanical force
3rd Week Injuries related to physical factors: freezing, burns, electrical and radiation damage
4th Week Firearm injuries
5th Week Injuries: practical applications
6th Week Forensic pathology and Thanatology : Concept of death
7th Week Corpse examination and discovery
8th Week Postmortem changes
9th Week Determining cause of death, determining time of death
10th Week Forced deaths, natural deaths
11th Week Examination of situation scenes: practical applications
12th Week Identification: Forensic anthropology, forensic serology, use of molecular genetic methods in forensic medicine - collecting evidence for the purpose of DNA analysis
13th Week Asphyxia and asphyxia related forced deaths
14th Week Forensic toxicology
15th Week Social Forensic Medicine: Violence, Child exploitation and neglect, Human rights abuses
16th Week Forensic Gynecology: Sexual attacks, Trauma in pregnancy, Maternal deaths
17th Week Forensic autopsy and clinical practice
