LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Define infections that develop in the mouth, teeth, jaw, neck and face.
2) List the methods of protection from infections in the mouth, teeth, jaw, neck and face.
3) Count the systemic infection features affecting the orofacial and neck region.
4) Count the principles of sterilization and disinfection.
5) Define sterilization and disinfection methods of hand instruments and devices used in dentistry.
6) List the pharmaceutical features of drugs used in the treatment of orofacial region infections.
7) Explain the definition of cross infection in dentistry and count the prevention methods.
8) Explain the pathophysiology of general body system infections and list their treatments.
9) Define the basic principles of epidemiology and epidemiological working principles.
10) Count data collection criteria for epidemiology studies.
11) Prepare epidemiological study report and interpret the results.
12) Define the epidemiology of oral cancer and describe the risk factors.

COURSE DEFINITIONDENT319 Definition of the oral and maxillofacial, head and neck area infection in addition to odontogenic and non-odontogenic infections, preventive methods and treatment modalities DENT321 Evaluation of the effect of the community health and habits on the oral health. Collecting data and using them with proper scientefic research techniques to improve health and prevent from the diseases DENT332 Oral and maxillofacial pathologies, benign and malignant lesions, their etiologies as well as the clinical and the radiological findings are defined. Possible differential diagnosis, biopsy and treatment modalities are described. DENT341 The committee covers the basic diagnosis and treatment of pathologies in the oral region. DENT351 It covers the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system structure in the mouth, teeth, jaw, neck and face region, the pain and pain mechanism in this region, and local and systemic treatment approaches in the treatment of pain. DENT360 It covers the learning of diagnosis and treatment methods of maxillofacial and dental traumas and the treatment of complications that may occur.
