LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT	At the end of this course, the students; 1) evaluate the reading materials related to dentistry 2) expand reading skills and strategies 3) reflect upon what they have read 4) understand important points, distinguish the main ideas from supporting details 5) recognize common words and word combinations in the field of dentistry 6) deduce the meaning of unfamiliar words and word groups from context 7) paraphrasing an original source in the field by using appropriate techniques 8) making an academic summary.

COURSE DEFINITION	This course is a high level Professional English course. The course focuses on four language skills to meet the needs of Baskent University Faculty of Dentistry 2nd year students in the 100% English program: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Vocabulary and grammar studies are handled for definition and production purposes. Language skills are developed together. Academic skills are specifically addressed at the level of structuring language, summarizing, and reviewing referral letters, case reports, and articles from the field
