At the end of this course, the students; 1) Develop reading and writing skills, which are two basic language skills 2) They not only improve academic language and skills, but also apply them in an integrated way 3) They develop sub-skills such as reading, guessing, scanning, reviewing, summarizing, annotating, interpreting, defining references, annotating, interpreting, identifying references, de-contextualizing the meaning of unknown words, reading intensively, analyzing and evaluating 4) They form the vocabulary necessary for them to communicate effectively in written and oral academic contexts 5) They create language proficiency by applying language structures and functions.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course focuses on improving the English Reading and Writing skills of Başkent University Department of Economics students. The reading section focuses on sub-skills such as guessing, scanning, reviewing, summarizing, annotating, interpreting, identifying references, extracting the meaning of unknown words from context, intensive reading, analyzing and evaluating. Essay writing and composition types are examined in the course writing component.
