At the end of this course, the students; 1) Learn and apply programme making methods in radio. 2) Gain competence of developping an idea for different types of programme and put these ideas into practice. 3) Gain competence of making a radio programme.

COURSE DEFINITION
It is planned to outline radio, the world's first electronic mass communication tool. Considering that the students who chose the course did not take the Radio Broadcasting and Practises I course in the first semester, the students of this elective course must learn basic radio and broadcasting information. After this information is shared, the production process, program-making, and presentation techniques will be explained. Efforts will be made to provide students with editing systems and other technical acquisitions. After explaining the experiences related to classical radio and television program production, modern broadcasting and changing broadcasting norms will also be discussed. Edited programs and applications, which are now extremely easy to access over the Internet, will be introduced. It is planned for students to make programs in the light of all the programming information given. Both recorded and live broadcasts and programs made through the studio environment, classical broadcast devices, and automation systems will be explained meticulously and all the information will be made concrete through applications. Technical equipment, essential devices, and today's developing electronic and digital publishing materials will also be discussed. Types and subtypes of radio will be mentioned. The place of radio in the world and Turkey will be explained. The broadcast personnel working in the radio will be defined and their duties will be studied in detail. Programming via social media applications and some new products such as podcasts, videocasts, and TVcasts will also be specifically discussed and explained with examples.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEK
TOPICS
1st Week
Meeting. The history of radio in the world and Turkey will be explained. Who invented the radio? Organizational structures of state and private, radio and television stations will be shared among media organs.
2nd Week
What is radio programming? What are its construction and rules?
3rd Week
What are the parts of radio? Personnel, tasks, working hours, responsibilities, etc. (Producer, announcer, presenter, host/hostess, reporter, camera(woman/man) and others) will be shared. Errors in determining titles and positions using foreign words will be addressed.
4th Week
What is the format? Is it necessary? Radio formats are valid in the world.
5th Week
All available radio formats in the world will be explained. What is a program suggestion form? How to prepare and fill it? It will be studied in full detail. There will be practice in the classroom and studio.
6th Week
Is format required in Podcast, TVcast and videocast applications?
7th Week
Radio program types. The road map to be followed in making a radio program will be shared and the preparation and styles of presentation will be discussed. The responsible production team, necessary devices, equipment, and broadcast materials will be explained. Studios, editing sets, automation systems, mobile broadcasting, and related topics will be shared.
8th Week
Midterm Exam.
9th Week
In the light of the information given, students will prepare a podcast, videocast, or TVcast and submit it as a project. These assignments will be referenced when determining the final letter grade. Interviews, conversations, etc. will be mentioned.
10th Week
There will be practice in the classroom and studio. Alternative programs will be discussed.
11th Week
In this course, you will learn how to be a good radio and TV producer, producer, announcer, presenter, DJ, reporter, etc. Tips on how to be will be explained. It is also planned to convey examples of famous producers, radio DJs, presenters, hosts, and announcer titles from both Turkey and the world. It is also planned to be our guest host of famous broadcasters from Turkey online in our course.
12th Week
There will be practice in the classroom and studio.
13th Week
There will be a trip to a radio station. This would be TRT Ankara Radio and/or a private radio.
14th Week
A general evaluation of the Spring semester will be made. At the same time, some information about the topics of the spring semester will be re-shared if needed.
