At the end of this course, the students; 1) Learn working principles of the radio. 2) Learn program types and their production stages. 3) Are informed about radio's place within mass medium and its historical development process.

COURSE DEFINITION
It is planned to explain all aspects of radio, the world's first electronic mass communication tool. The differences between it and the television that emerged later will be shared. Types and subtypes of radio will be mentioned. The place of radio in the world and in Turkey will be explained. The stages of radio, starting from the year it was invented, will be explained. The broadcast personnel working in the radio will be defined and their duties will be explained in detail. The programs on the radio and their types will be mentioned. Technical equipment, necessary devices and today's developing electronic and digital publishing materials, etc. will be mentioned. After all this is explained to the students, practice will be done in the studio and in the classroom. By bringing together theoretical knowledge and practical applications, it is aimed to better understand radio and broadcasting.
COURSE CONTENTS

TOPICS
1st Week
Meet. What is radio programming? What are the differences between radio and television broadcasting? What are its construction and rules? What is a podcast, TV broadcast, video broadcast? How are they made and used?
2nd Week
The history of radio in the world and in Turkey will be explained. Who invented the radio? Organizational structures of state and private, radio and television stations will be shared among media organs.
3rd Week
What are the sections of radio? Personnel, tasks, working hours, responsibilities, etc. (Producer, announcer, presenter, host/hostess, reporter, cameraman and others) will be transferred. Errors in determining titles and positions using foreign words will be addressed.
4th Week
What is the format? Is it necessary? Radio formats valid in the world.
5th Week
Radio formats valid in the world.
6th Week
Radio formats valid in the world.
7th Week
Radio program types. Ways and methods of making a radio program. The responsible production team, necessary devices, equipment and broadcast materials will be explained. Studios, editing sets, automation systems, mobile publishing and related topics will be shared.
8th Week
Midterm Exam.
9th Week
Interview, conversation etc. will be discussed. Practice will be done in the classroom and studio.
10th Week
Laws of broadcasting organizations, RTÜK (Radio and Television Supreme Council), advertising, sponsorship, frequencies, broadcast coverage areas (local, regional, national).
11th Week
In this course, you will learn how to be a good radio and TV producer, producer, announcer, presenter, DJ, reporter, etc. Ways and methods of becoming one will also be explained.
12th Week
What is the program suggestion form? How to prepare and fill? It will be explained in full detail. Grammy, Oscar etc. The structures of award organizations in the world, including the relationships between radio and TV, will be discussed.
13th Week
There will be a field trip to a radio station. This would be TRT Ankara Radio or a private radio that could serve as an example.
14th Week
If there is an opportunity, we will host famous radio and TV broadcasters in our course either in the classroom/studio or online. A general evaluation will be made.
