COURSE DEFINITION
Crisis management is critical whether you are part of nonprofit, corporate, agency, or governmental concern. This course examines the dilemmas of managerial responsibility that occur when organizations face crisis because of disasters, unexpected circumstances or circumstances beyond the managerial control. A particular emphasis will be made to cover both the growing development in diversity and the contributions of technology Students are provided with the analytical and practical foundations to anticipate possible crises; develop methods of avoiding or minimizing damage, and deal with the resulting impact to stakeholders. Emphasis is placed on how to avoid or minimize the organizational or environmental damage caused by a crisis & methods of diagnosing and resolving crisis. Included are how to prepare an emergency list; identify pre-crisis symptoms; select & shepherd a successful team; handle stakeholder and public relation issues, and create media releases.
